In 2014, the Belgian legislator defined the status of independent financial planner. That law defines the conditions for practising the profession of independent financial planner. The law also recognizes FSMA as the competent authority to judge on admission. Finally, the law establishes the rules of conduct to be followed when providing financial planning advice.
Personal Finance Planners has been licensed after following the procedure with the FSMA.
The law also stipulates that, as part of their independence, advisers may not be remunerated by the sale of or commissions on the sale of products such as investments, insurance or real estate.
