Why would I need a financial plan?

Insight into the present

A financial plan gives a complete overview of my financial situation and indicates how it can be optimised. Not just fiscally, but especially according to my current wishes and goals. Typical questions to which a financial plan provides answers are:

  • How can my savings yield better returns?
  • Do my investments yield enough?
  • How can I save money within my business or company and how do I invest it?
  • Are my investments appropriate for my investment profile and my investment horizon? Am I taking too much risk? Am I not too concentrated?
  • How and where can I make tax savings?
  • How can I structure my assets between my private and my business life?

A financial plan can help here. Of course, this is not free either, but in many cases, a financial plan delivers significantly more than what it costs.

Looking forward

Nobody has a crystal ball. Still, a financial plan can indicate whether my long-term goals are achievable. And what adjustments I need to make, if any, to meet those goals.

A financial plan provides insight into my future income and expenses and shows how my assets are developing. Typical questions here are:

  • What will be my income when I retire?
  • How do I turn my insurance capital into a monthly income?
  • Am I saving too little or too much to achieve my goals (world trip, children studies, sailing boat, old- or youngtimer, etc.)?
    When can I stop working?
  • How can I transfer my assets to my children in the most favourable way?
  • How can I get funds/property out of my company as favourably as possible

An eye for my risks

Not the funniest part of a financial plan, but perhaps one of the most important. A financial plan shows me what the consequences would be for me and my family if I were to unexpectedly become unemployed or disabled or die early. And how does inflation affect both my income and assets?

These risks are often underestimated, as is their financial impact.

A financial plan maps out the possible consequences in the event of a setback and, more importantly, what I can do now to manage these risks and minimise their impact. In short, I get answers to questions like:

  • Will I have sufficient income if I become unemployed or disabled?
  • Will my relatives be left well cared for?
  • Is my marriage contract in order? Or should I have it drawn up or changed? What if I want to buy a house with my partner without getting married?
  • Should I have a will or care proxy drawn up? And what should it contain?

The power of the total picture

I get a total picture of my assets and income based on combined insights into the present, the future and the risks.

That picture is systematically reviewed  from a legal, tax, social and economic perspective.

The power of the combined insights allows me to look at a lot of “what if” scenarios. I can hence make better decisions for my financial future. I am supported in this by my financial planner.

Why should I work with Personal Finance Planners?

Independent advice & support

I only want advice if the adviser does not sell me products for which he gets commission.
My financial planner must be approved by the FSMA as an independent financial planner.

My plan is a real plan and not a document to put in a cupboard. So my financial planner is happy to make time to guide me in its implementation.

In all domains

I want a multidisciplinary approach: my personal situation is analysed in detail, and from a tax, legal, financial and social point of view.

I want an overall view on all aspects of my assets, together with personalised advice.

Tailor-made

My plan is written specifically for me, tailored to my personal situation, my wishes and my goals.

But it remains my personal plan and therefore there is room for my specific questions here.

Experience

My financial planner has extensive experience in the financial world. If necessary, well-known experts from the network are called upon if I wish.

Discretion

My financial planner guarantees complete discretion in processing my personal data.

Correct & integrity

My financial planner always puts my interests first and I must always be able to trust him.
